LensesToric contact lenses, new options for those with astigmatismToric contact lenses offer new options to people with astigmatism. Toric contacts are now available in soft and ridig gas permeable (RGP) and are comfortable, affordable and even disposable. In the past people with astigmatism had fewer options than they do today. They could wear difficult to adjust hard contacts or spend a lot of money on soft contacts especially made for astigmatism. Today's toric contact lenses make it possible for people with astigmatism to wear and afford comfortable soft contact lenses. Toric contact lenses are made from the same materials as regular contacts but have two powers, one for your regular vision correction (myopia, hyperopia) and one for the astigmatism in addition to a weight to keep the toric contact lens in the proper position. Some toric contact lens brands (such as Acuvue toric) include a UV-blocking feature and an inside-out mark for correct insertion. The eyes of those with astigmatism are more oval shaped instead of the more rounded shape and regular contact lens do not provide the proper fit and correction. Toric contacts, however do provide the proper correction and fit. The new materials from which the toric contacts are manufactured make it possible for them to be produced, and consequently sold to the public at a much lower cost. Toric Contact Lenses, Comfortable and AffordableThe fitting process for toric contacts may take a little extra time and some adjustments but once you are done, toric contact lenses will allow you many hours of comfortable wear. Now that you can also find a great selection of toric contact lens online, you can save money by not paying the extra costs to cover the supplier's operating expenses and overhead at the mall or at your eye practitioner's office.
